His bond was set at $500,000 on Wednesday.
Singh is accused of failing to stop for a traffic stop on Ohio 47 near Detling Road on Monday.
Around 8:15 p.m., a deputy saw an SUV going 79 mph in a 55 mph zone, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy attempted to catch up to the SUV and turned on his cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens.
Singh reportedly accelerated as the deputy tried to catch up to it.
The deputy pursued the SUV for approximately five miles. The pursuit lasted less than three minutes and reached speeds of approximately 124 mph, according to the sheriff’s office.
Near the Ohio 47 and Ansonia-Hunchbarger Road intersection, Singh attempted to negotiate a curve before appearing to black out, according to court records.
The SUV overturned and rolled before hitting another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.
A passenger in the SUV, 17-year-old Ashlee Holmes, of Sidney, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
When Singh got out the of the SUV, he reportedly did not fully follow the deputy’s commands for Singh to get on the ground.
Singh and the driver of the other vehicle were both taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
